Have you ever told a joke and the people you told it to just stare at you in silence as though they never heard the punch line? That's kinda what my last post feels like. Lots of people hate the word "retard". I get it.
So let's just move on to less controversial topics. Like landlords. Everyone hates them, right? (Sorry David and Marcy.)
Today my landlord stopped by and told me to have the junk by the trash cans, (left by the people who vacated the basement apartment here two weeks ago), picked up by Sunday when the new tenants would be moving in so that the place didn't look bad. And if all of it, namely the giant bureau drawer, didn't fit in the can, then to ask a neighbor if they could give me a hand in getting it out of here. Oh, and don't forget - be sure it's done by Sunday.

I kinda stared at her with a blank look on my face. Why the hell is it my job to clean up after your previous residents? But, being non-confrontational like I am, I told her I would.
And then I called Andrew and told him what she said and his panties were instantly knotted tighter than mine, which was somethin', and he asked me for her phone number. He then called her and told her exactly who's job it was to clean up the mess from her previous tenants. Uh, that would be hers. Not ours, not the neighbors.
But, you know, I got to thinking. I am the kind of person who tries to do what I say I will. So I went out there and put the stinking junk and various paraphernalia into the cans.
Is it just me, or does this look really trashy?
But hey - I'm happy to help.
I just wonder who's going to pick up the garbage that I have to stack next to the cans until trash day?
Bethany, shame on you for being a "YES" woman. It is admirable, but you have enough to deal with then being your landlords free clean up lady. I would never ask my tenants to do that! It really shows the quality of people when they ask others to do things for them that they are totally capable of doing themselves. Now there are instances where this may not apply. But this is not one.

On another note..just because you are nice to them and do all their dirt work will not guarantee you a refund of deposit.
I side with Andrew on this one! Girlfriend you must learn to say "NO". Have I scolded yo enough? Sorry. I just hate seeing this happen
I, for one, think the word "retard" is just fine, and perfectly acceptable. Which of the two phrases was used in front of the general public first? "This man is retarded" or "This man is mentally handicapped"? It's the same thing as people telling me that I can't call someone from Mexico a Mexican, that I have to say Hispanic or Latino... Keep on saying retard, you're just fine. :)
