A Batch of Nothing

I do have a favorite child, but it changes daily.

My feet will never be the same after living in this stinking desert for three years now.

Last night I had a dream about hobo spiders. Again.

My oldest son, Cameron, records the weirdest shows on our DVR. Lately it has been
Ghost Hunters and 6 Going On 60 - a show about kids with Progeria. I'm a little worried about his mental health.

My kids, husband and I just finished watching the
Back to the Future trilogy last night. We decided that it is good.

I tried REALLY hard to read
The House of Seven Gables. I couldn't do it. I only ever got about fourteen pages into it, and I had to give up until my brain can handle all the big words. I'm sure it got really interesting on page fifteen, and it will bother me until the day I die. The other book I'm having a hard time getting into - A Tale of Two Cities.

My brother still has to help me when I experience technology crisis. Like the other day when I couldn't make iTunes download on my computer properly.

I am proud of the fact that I can recite the names of every U.S. president in order. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Adams, Jackson, Van Buren, Harrison, Tyler, Polk, Taylor, Fillmore, Pierce, Buchanon, Lincoln, Johnson, Grant, Hayes, Garfield, Arthur, Cleaveland, Harrison, Cleaveland, McKinley, Roosevelt, Taft, Wilson, Harding, Cooliage, Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama.

And you know I did that without cheating, because I'm sure I spelled some of them wrong.

My favorite smells are chocolate chip cookies baking, Hugo Boss cologne, clean babies, bacon sizzling, rain, and honeysuckle.

Least favorite smell - well, that's just too numerous to list.

Seeing Halley's Comet when it passes through in 2061 is one of my life goals. I will be 81 years old, and I plan on watching the sky while holding my husband's hand. Then I can die and everything will be good.

  1. We have one boy and one girl, so we always tell them "You're my favorite son/daughter" and they can't say that we are lying. Except for the days that they AREN'T the favorite!

I hate when I can't get into a book that I am sure I need to/want to/must read. I can't tell you how many times I have started classic novels, only to take them back to the library. The one I just can't finish is Atlas Shrugged, which my brother LOVES and I just can't deal with!!

    Love your random thoughts today...

  2. I really like this post, and I'm definitely impressed that you can name all the presidents in order. When I was in the 5th grade, my teacher taught us a song to help us remember them all in order, and I promptly forgot it after the test. I sort of wish I had remembered it now.

  4. They really are all my favorite - and for different reasons. :)

Cooper - I can't believe you learned all that in 5th grade! I didn't learn that until I was a sophomore in high school!

  5. I always have books I feel like I need to read, being the daughter of an English professor, but I. just. can't. get. into. them.

I have not read a lick of Dickens my entire life!

  6. You really should make an effort to get through A Tale of Two Cities - awesome.

I can vouch for you on the President thing - I've heard you recite/sing them many times!

I love the Hailey's Comet goal! I may have to steal that one for myself. :)

  7. What the heck happens to the feet of the desert dweller?
And what the heck is progeria?
I'm leaving with more questions than answers! lol(cuz I want you to know I'm kidding, sad, huh?) Though, I will have to google progeria. No kidding.

  8. McKinley to Coolidge always screws me up. I used to be able to do it but that patch now reigns terror on my memory.
