Today I got my first taste of one of my favorite parts of summer. Our town's high school marching band.
The band practices for the parades they do during the summer, and they march past my house at about nine-thirty in the morning every four days or so. I guess they have to shake up their route so they don't annoy the crotchety people who find the drums disturbing. If I had it my way, they would march past my house EVERY morning, because there is just nothing like starting your day with a rockin' version of Chicago's Saturday In The Park.
Gets my blood movin' and my feet groovin'.
Marching Bands - quintessential summer.
*Edit - They came again today! Yey! We got Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog. I love this band, they are so cool.*
How cool is that?!? I've totally got that song in my head now. I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my place and commenting on my Mommy Meltdown post. I'd find a creative way to use the word "gullet" in this comment but I'm just way too tired to even try. lol Thanks again. Have a great day.

@TweetingMama
We used to live right across from a high school and their band would practice at 7 in the morning on Saturdays... they weren't very good. Glad you're able to enjoy yours!!
ReplyDeleteI love that song but the idea of being woken up by it....
ReplyDeleteOh, wait, 9:30. Yeah, that would be cool.
That's really neat!! We'd love that too.
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that marching bands always pick such random songs?
You know they just think you're cool and deserve a marching band greeting several mornings a week!
ReplyDeleteThat is really cool! You're the first person that I've ever heard that has this happen to them!
Our marching band starts at 7:00AM, but they play 1.5 miles away at the school, so you only hear it if you go out for a walk at that time.
ReplyDeleteI think yours is much funnier and I LOVE the pic. Fabulous!!!
OK, now that's cool!! The only thing better would be if the ice cream truck came right after they went by....
ReplyDeleteWelcome to summer!
Oh wow, I would LOVE that. Seriously, how fun. What a great way to start the day. Unless you have a headache - then it could be bad.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to get you into alex's marching band comps this fall when they come to kaysville. Alex starts practice next week. I feel sorry for the neighbors.
ReplyDeleteOoh, the fond memories of summer band... :)
ReplyDeleteHey, tomorrow's your OM post AND I'm reviewing you on Blog Brew Review. You'll be on FIRE!
That is one of my absolute favorite parts of living here! On the day of the Homecoming Parade we'll have you guys come over. They start out right next to our house, and since our kids are the first ones they see, they throw obscene amounts of candy to us!
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how to march. Apparently I have no rhythm.
We played that back in my marching band days. Great song!
ReplyDeleteOur daughter informed the last week of school that she and her band are going to play Lady Gaga in the stands next fall. Won't be the same as the good old days, I think.
Well heck...send em' my way. I'd love to wake up to that. The kids would be thrilled!!
