Christmas is magical, Thanksgiving is tasty, Easter is refreshing... But the Fourth of July - it's just exciting!
We have some pretty fun traditions for the 4th - we watch our city's parade, make fun of Utah hair, swing through the carnival, we go to lunch at Red Robin, we come back to my house to hang out/play games/barbecue, (except this year it's going to be pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw piled high on top...YUM), and then at about 8:00 we walk just three blocks from my house to the town's fireworks display. Need I tell you how nice it is to live that close? We laugh at everyone stuck in traffic.
This year all those traditions will take place on Saturday because in Utah where most of the population is LDS, (Mormon), we don't do much partying on Sunday. The cities kindly shifted the festivities to Saturday.
I love the 4th of July - the marching bands, the food, the noise and excitement, the carnivals, the fireworks, the pride in our country. I love our freedom and our history.
I hope you all have a safe, happy, wonderful Independence Day! Tell me how you're celebrating!

Sounds perfect! We will be doing about the same, minus the nice WALK to the fireworks.....we will have to drive, but have a few places we like to go that are under the radar a bit.
ReplyDeleteI love the fireworks, especially! All that patriotic music that they play along makes it perfect. Happy 4th!
THis is probably my favorite holiday!
ReplyDeleteWith a 4 month old and 3 year old, we're laying off the traveling this year (which is our usual). We'll probably hit the pool with some friends and the BBQ idea sounds FAB! We just got a new grill recently but I'm TIRED of burgers so BBQ with slaw on top sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteHappy Trails! We are heading to a great fishing spot & dropping off some boys for scout camp!
ReplyDeleteIf it were my choice...I would be enjoying Fort Vancouver's most awesomest fireworks show ever!
Happy 4th!
Have a wonderful fourth! I love it! It's the holiday that's the least work and the most laid back!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous time at all your festivities!
ReplyDeleteOur day will be very similar to yours: the parade, then we go to Lagoon, because no one else goes on the 4th and it's almost empty, then we have a bbq at our house and watch the fireworks from our front yard, which just happens to be slightly closer and facing a better direction to see the fireworks. In fact, if you guys want to, you can just walk to our house and watch them with me and my fam! We always laugh at all the people in traffic, too.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you guys and daydreaming of next year when we get to join in the festivities with you!
ReplyDeleteI agree about your Description! the 4th IS EXCITING!! It's our Favorite holiday Next to Christmas! Being Military, we don't have too many traditions we can keep in place year after year (since we move) so...the things we DO always do are Go see Fireworks..SOMEWHERE, but always...ALWAYS I make Homemade Fried Chicken, and Potato Salad! YUM! Happy 4th!
