Of all my flaws, impatience is likely the worst. It rears it's ugly head at the most detrimental times.
Case in point - last night.
I decided that I was bored with the plain locks atop my head and resolved to do something to liven them up. I'd been debating for a while whether to chop them or grow them out. I opted for the grow-out, because there are only so many years left in which I'll be able to get away with long hair; may as well make the most of them.
The only choice left was color change of some sort.
So I took my boring head out to the local discount store and picked up a box of do-it-yourself highlights. Why would I do such a thing?
Because of the impatience.
Once an idea is concocted in my brain, it must be carried out, post haste. It was 8:00, and all the beauty salons were closed, so professional help was not available. (Not that I would have used it, because I'm still terrified of going near a hair salon in Utah.)
I brought the box home and put on the little cap and began to pull strands of hair through the holes... And then I realized that I would not be able to see the back or sides of my head in order to pull hair through those holes.
This is what we refer to as being "in a pickle".
I came out to the living room, where my dear husband was watching football in a very manly fashion. I smiled at him and cooed, "Honey???"
He looked at me, holding out my little crochet hook tool, and said, "No way."
So thirty seconds later I was sitting in front of his manly recliner while he attempted to pull bits of my hair through the highlighting cap.
And all the while he muttered, "If you blog about this, I'll kill you."
(Grin)
And then, when I told Cameron to take a picture, Andrew got really ticked...
I love that your wonderful hubby is flipping off his beautiful child!!! ;) So real life.
ReplyDeleteI said, men hate blogging ;)
ReplyDeleteAaahahahaahaha! I love this picture. Priceless.
ReplyDeleteAHHA!!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband totally would have had the same response to the crochet hook.
Of course, he might have thought I was suggesting something kinky with it, too.
I love that he's flipping off the kiddo! And that he told you NOT to blog about it and you are anyway. Maybe he can do the Friday Flip-Offs tomorrow as a guest post and flip off the stupid hair bag/crochet hook combo that threatened his manliness!
ReplyDeleteHow'd it turn out?!
Oh that is just too funny!! At least he was willing to help you out! Has he killed you for blogging about it yet? :)
ReplyDeleteAhh...now that's love isn't it? How are your highlights?
ReplyDeleteHee hee hee!!! That is awesome.
ReplyDeleteSo how'd it turn out??? Pictures, please!
That's a hoot! I love the picture! These men, they sure can help out in a pickle!
ReplyDeleteSo is hubby showing us his middle finger to impress upon us his hairdressing skills?
ReplyDeleteAh...here's one for the scrapbook!!
ReplyDeleteI always wait to do anything about my hair until I can't stand it for one more second. Of course, then I must do something drastic...I must say...D-man has gotten pretty good at the late night highlights!!
This is SOO Funny!! But here's what I want to know, why is he the one upset??? You're the one in the Cap with the hair all over!! :) LOL You can tell him that my hubby has highlighted my Hair at least a Hand full of times, maybe that will help! LOL
ReplyDeleteSo I want pics of the final product!
ReplyDeleteThis is freakin' awesome! First, because your husband helps you highlight your hair using your crochet needle. And second, because he has no problem flipping the bird to the camera when your son is behind the lense.
ReplyDeleteAsking a woman not to blog about something is an invitation to do the opposite, I've found.
ReplyDeletepictures, pictures of the final result! of course you could not wait to see Suzie!
