It's time to put your two cents into the Organic Enchilada bank. I need your thoughts and advice.
I hate my blog name. I'm not sure why I went with it, because I am the least "green" person on the Earth, and "organic" screams green. People search google for "organic enchiladas" and land on my site time and again, and I think it might piss them off. There they are, looking for a good, healthy recipe for their family...and they find me. Not organic, not green, not healthy.
I don't drink, so I know I wasn't drunk when I came up with this name. I think it might have been late at night, and maybe I thought it was ironically funny at the time. Now I'm just tired of sounding like something I'm not.
So.
Where to go from here? Do I change my blog name and confuse the heck out of people, or do I leave it as is and suck up the consequences of my rash and ridiculous nature? Have any of you ever changed your blog name? Would it be stupid to have a url that is different from the blog title? Thoughts, anyone?
I say, change it if you don't like it! Now I'm clueless about the best way to go about doing it, and I have no idea of the ramifications it would have, but I do know that your die hard fans (like me!) will find you no matter what you title your blog :)
ReplyDeleteQuestion: if you do change it, will it be to something poop/butt related? Just wondering....
Change it! The wrong blog name is like walking in shoes that don't fit.
ReplyDeleteI saw change it ... your blog is evolving and this is just one of it's stages. I changed my blog name and when I did it I just made a post about it. I kept my url the same but just changed my blog name. I didn't lose any followers because of it so I saw go for it!
ReplyDeleteOh and if you don't already use picnik it's a free site and it so easy to use and make your blog buttons! ;)
I say change it. I've always wanted "does my ass look fat in this blog"
ReplyDeleteAlas, I won't be messin' w/ mommakiss any time soon. Other than maybe dropping the blogspot extension. I'm risky!
I don't know... enchiladas always give me gas... which is kind of apropos given how much you write about farts. Maybe you could call it the Windy Enchilada instead?
ReplyDeleteEveryone's telling you to change it...wonder why that is.
ReplyDeleteI say it's completely up to you. Changing it wouldn't confuse your readers....much. And before long it would all be a distant memory.
On the other hand...if you don't change it, who cares why people land on your site? It's not like it would take a lot of effort for them to simply close the link and open another.
But...if you must change it...I think you should stay in the same realm. Like "The Whole Enchilada." I happen to like enchiladas!
I've always liked it but if you're unhappy, don't keep it. I like Arizona Mama's advice about "The Whole Enchilda". I also am a big fan of Mexican food, so I may be biased here.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, refried beans.
Betty hates change. However, if you really don't like the name you should change it. I like the name. I think it makes you groovy.
ReplyDeleteI seem to remember you saying that when you started this blog, "the Whole Enchilada" was already taken, thus the reason you went with Organic Enchilada. You must have been craving some mexican food!
ReplyDeleteThe name doesn't bother me a bit, but you're right, it doesn't really scream you, and who you are.
Alas, I have no witty suggestions. I'm sure you can come up with something if you decide to change it. You're smart like that.
If you are fed up with it than do it. I do have
ReplyDeleteTo say though that the hilarity in an organic enchilada is awesome. It sets the tone for your funny side. It also gets people thinking "Wha. Tha. Fa. Is an organic enchilada? Does she like enchiladas? Is she on drugs?" who knows but it keeps people guessing. It's unique. I like it.
I always kind of wondered where that title came from. But it's random, and I like it. But eh, if you want to change it, change it. My title is lame, and my URL doesn't match. Not to mention it's still my maiden name. So you know, whatever. ;)
ReplyDeleteI really like your current name, and I think it fits your blog, as crazy as that may seem.
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to change it, you might want to buy your own domain through Blogger. It's just $10 for a year, and Blogger will redirect everything for you. So if people have you in their blogroll/reader/dash as organicenchilada.blogspot.com, they will still get to you when you change it to www.bethanytakesovertheworld.com
If I didn't like the name I chose, I would change it. If you are interested in growing your readership, you should consider it. I know one of the reasons I never clicked on your site before Liz recommended it was because I didn't think the content would be something that would interest me because of the name. I'm sure glad I did because I love your blog. Just something to consider.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like it...change it. I think you can redirect links though. If people type in www.organicenchilada.blogspot.com it would send them to your new site. Don't know how to do it though!
ReplyDeleteI'd go for the change if I wasn't happy with my name (which I'm not sometimes, so now you have me thinking...). Liz's recommendation for buying your domain through Blogger would be a fairly painless way to do it.
ReplyDeleteYour readers will help you do a PR blitz to get the name change out there!
Change it if you don't like it. Funny- I just assumed you were a green girl.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that I would say not to do is to change it all the time. Try to find something you really like and stick with it.
I say if you don't like it, then change it. I second Liz's suggestion of getting your own domain through blogger - that would solve a lot of the issues in changing it over!!
ReplyDeleteif you hate it, change it. maybe keep the enchilada part and add another fancy word. maybe fancy enchilada. :)
ReplyDeletei saw you title and it says WHAT WOULD YOU DO.
but in my head i'd changed it to WHAT WOULD JEN DO. and i was like, why is she talking about me?
Wow, what a conundrum?! Probably didn't spell that right, but oh well. I agree with Poppy that I probably wouldn't have visited, thinking that it was all good organic food (and no Nerds or Sweetarts) but I was so glad I came over here!
ReplyDeleteCool what Liz said about redirecting...and the Whole Enchilada idea is cool too.
I'm not really helping here, but I love, love your blog and will be around no matter what the name!
Must include poop, boys, poop, boys, poop and boys.
ReplyDeleteMaybe:
The Mom and the poop, barf boys.
Mooma poop boys
Poop boys
Try me, I'm the queen of poop.
I'm talkin poop
Poop R Us
Like Poop? Read on.
Just a few that came to mind
Move it back to Bethany's Brain and just make a sub note that it is going to be the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I alway's like the art on BB as well. But you know me - it doesn't matter to me what the blog or post is - I always say what I mean - and mean what I say - so if some goody goody can't take some straight talk, they can go &%$# (kiss)themselves!
