We're still neck deep in homeschool, in case anyone was wondering. It's going pretty well, I suppose. My kids know all about viscosity, so I don't know what else the state could ask of me. I haven't really figured out how a knowledge of viscosity can be applied to real life just yet, but Cameron and Ethan can sit down to breakfast and say, "Mom, I prefer my maple syrup with a slightly lower viscosity, so could you microwave it for me, please?" And one of them did say that, so they sound smart, if nothing else.
Today we did a science experiment called The Incredible Can Crusher! We crushed a can using nothing but air and a little cold water. The sound of a gunshot was involved, so it was a huge success, of course. When in doubt - loud noises are popular with boys.
Cameron and Ethan are learning to play the piano, courtesy of Grandma. Just today Cameron mastered Ode To Joy - and after only six lessons, too! Here's a little video of their recital, which took place after four lessons. (My mom requested the footage, so if you're not my mom, don't feel obligated to watch. - Mom, you have to because it took me six years to download the 70 second reel.)
Hey! Your kids are on their way to full ride scholarships if their using viscosity at the breakfast table. I'd say the year was a success! Are you signing up for next year?
ReplyDeleteGood to hear homeschooling is still going well! We're going to start in 2 years.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have that same *twitch* when I film too.
It does take 6 years to upload video. Why is that? I would like to see the can crusher experiment because sadly I couldn't even melt ice correctly in my high school chemistry class. I think I would be a dismal home school teacher.
ReplyDeleteBesides the obvious question, which is "why didn't I get an invite to the recital?" I totally loved that video. The way Ethan bobs his head up and down to keep time, then deep breath, and start again - classic. And Cameron's playing is beautiful - short and sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteOh and good job with the homeschool - I don't know how you do it.
Great video! Short and sweet!
ReplyDeleteYou- go girl on the home school! June is just around the corner! Hang in there!
I think you rock for just taking this on, even if it's temporary! There is SO much to school...and trying to make my kids listen to ME would be so hard!
ReplyDeleteJune....June is coming...
