A Day At The Coast

Today we went to the beach.  Sounds sunny, right?  Well, we went to the Oregon coast, so this was not the case.  But if you wait for sunshine before you do anything outdoors here in the northwest, you better love the inside of your house an awful lot.

We started out with a trip to Mo's.  Really awesome clam chowder.  The boys were watching the seagulls float on the wind when suddenly one dropped a "bomb" on the window directly in front of their faces.  They both screamed.  Like, literally screamed there in the restaurant.  It was fairly embarrassing, but I got over it in time to take a really classy picture.  Cameron took no direction from me, but he is certainly my child, no?

The wind was blowing hard.  That wasn't a lot of fun, but we stayed on the sand long enough to get a group shot.

And then it poured.  We were instantly soaked.  I had Andrew take a picture of my hair because, Dang, I'm hot.
So then I put a hat on because no one should go into public looking that tempting.  And we went to the Tillamook Cheese Factory.  (You hear that Crystal B.?  The actual factory where they make your sharp cheddar.  Mmmm...)  Andrew took this picture.  He kinda stinks at it, but I love him anyway.

Here's a picture of giant cheese logs.  Ethan's question was:  How do they cut the cheese?  "With their butts", I replied.  Duh.

It really was that orange in the cheese room, in case you're wondering.  Weird, huh?  Here's Ethan helping to make the cheese.

And the picture Drew asked me to take of him.  Perfect placement, if you ask me.

In addition to cheese, they make ice cream at the creamery.  Drew had never had such a huge cone.

And here I am with my Mountain Blackberry cone.  It was disappointing.  I kept looking at Cameron and Ethan's Bubble Gum cones and wishing I hadn't felt pressure to not embarrass Andrew by ordering one myself.

Next time, I'm totally getting Bubblegum.

  2. Ahhhh Bethany! Haystack rock! I lived the first 10 years of my life in Vancouver, not counting the two we were in Spain, and we LOVE going to Manzanita! I miss the little turds of cheese samples, and the gift shop? I once brought my friend back a pair of cow print toe socks with little pink toes for udders!

  8. Sounds like a fantastic day! I love all the pics and you're right, if you wait for sun you will be waiting a long time - especially this year!
I'm jealous about many, many things you did but mostly I'm jealous of the cheese factory. I have never been and now it's on my list to see ASAP!

YUMMO. And you can't change the weather, so why let it ruin your day!
Love the hair Bethany, you should let it "go" more often, who knew you had a wave in your hair!
