Back To School To Do List

The following things must be done before school starts next week:

Remove all embarrassing clothing from children's wardrobe, i.e.; tie-dye shirt from camp last year and warm-up pants with holey knees.

Cut children's hair without having "Oops - well, I'm sure no one will notice" incident.

Clean and re-organize children's room to allow for individual homework stations.  (Fantasize about quiet homework time.)

Re-teach children how to tie shoelaces.  They seem to have forgotten and have been sticking to velco or sliding feet in shoes without untying.

Prepare Drew for shock of having no older children around to play with.  Convince him that "Mom is fun too!"

Pray that bully girl across street is not in Cameron's class.  She's scary.

Write names in backpacks and hooded sweatshirts.  Resign self to fact that this is not guarantee that items will come home with children, or be locatable in Lost and Found.

Decide whether or not to pack lunch for children on first day with super cool items (ex: Twinkies and Dr. Pepper) to convince children's peers of their awesomeness.  Is well known fact that kids with garbage lunches are desirable friends.

  1. It's so true... maybe you should just cut their sandwiches into the shape of the F word.
And it's true geekiness is very fashionable these days, definitely the best sort of boy. Look at Peter Parker... all he needed was the secret knowledge that he was great, and a couple of loyal buddies... plus, upside-down kissing skills, but, you know...

  2. Go for the great lunch ideas. Jealousy is the best friend maker!
That is how I made my best friend in 7th grade! She was jealous I could just raise my hand and ask to use the bathroom! Imagine that! And that I was so cool in my homemade clothes and earth shoes! (it was the 70's) and I was still brainwashed by the church!

  3. That last one sounds like a definite to-do. Load 'em up with jolly ranchers and fun size candy bars, too - those are easy to give to people so they will be your friend! Also, good luck with bullygirl.

  4. Haha, that's quite the list! And so interesting to see back-to-school to-do lists from the parents' perspective :D

  5. Man, maybe if I wrote an awesome to do list, I'd actually remember to get lunch money, buy new underwear for son, and school supplies for daughter. I always feel so unorganized the first week of school.

You rock as a mom Bethany. But I'm sure your boys already know that. :)
