A few weeks ago I went to the library and checked out Napoleon Dynamite. I brought it home and we all watched it together as a family. Even my three-year-old. Weird kid.
I quite enjoy that movie, even in its idiocy - it's simply classic.
However, after my three and four year old boys watched the movie twice daily for the entire week we had it, I began to question the wisdom of letting them view even that G-rated movie.
Drew now quotes several lines from the movie at random times of the day, and in public, causing strangers to wonder why my kid is so weird. ("Tina, you fat lard, come get some dinner!")
Drew also believes that a time machine will only work if you remember to put the crystals in before you plug it in.
Trent calls everyone "idiot".
And tonight, when I made quesadillas for dinner, which Drew hates, I told him, "But Napoleon Dynamite loves case-a-dillas!" Drew looked at me with a doubtful expression and asked, "He does?" And I replied, "Heck, yes, he does!" (That makes sense if you say it with a Napoleon accent.)

ReplyDeleteCrap, I meant smile...guess the Napoleon idiocy is catching...
ReplyDeletebethany, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to watch this movie again now. Also, can you please coach Drew to say the Fat Lard line next time we come over? I'm dying to hear it in his little voice. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is time to introduce this movie to my family too, thanks for the reminder!
