"I've Got Better Things To Spend My Money On"
This is a category that I'm sure exists in every person's financial life, but which holds different items depending on one's income, how many children there are to feed, and whether or not a Volkswagen is parked in the driveway.
Some of the items in my "I've Got Better Things To Spend My Money On" category are paper towels, food from a buffet, make-up remover, and bras.
But today, the bras were a necessity. Only two left and one of them with a faulty strap.
And, hello! Why do bras have to be so expensive? $36.00? Small busted people should get to pay less than that, because there is seriously more fabric on my ankle socks. What is up?
And why are there always huge, busty women offering you a bra fitting? I'd rather someone who understands my flat-chested woes be all up in my booby business than to have Double D Bertha direct me to the Tween Department.
So today I bit the bullet and bought three bras, (not the Hannah Montana kind this time, Mom), and it only cost me $81.00.
Hot Damn. Those things better last a while.
I don't mind buying 'real' bras at higher prices, but I HATE spending money on nursing bras. By the time you have worn it and figured out it doesn't work for you, then your 9 month old has already spit up on it and you can't return it. But I refuse to spend another $40 on a nursing bra I'm hopefully only wearing for another 3-4 months. momma ready to bring sexy back. :)
ReplyDeleteI buy my bras at Target in the juniors section. $8 for a bra is about all I'm willing to spend!
ReplyDeleteI am in need of the good bras, so I don't mind that expense. My least favorite thing to spend money on is car stuff. I hate spending money on general car maintenance stuff. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteAnd replacing stolen stuff, that seems to be where most of our money goes lately. Not a fan of buying stuff twice. Grr! Enjoy your nice bras!
Ha! More fabric than my ankle socks!
ReplyDeleteI won't lie...I think that I have an addiction to buying bras only because I have this weird thing where I need to have my underwear and bras match. Sigh...it's exhausting ;)
But I shop for deals and NEVER EVER pay full price!
Oh I hear ya there! But I refuse to spend more than $20 on one... and none of that fancy stuff. Plain Jane works just fine.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with Maureen on the nursing bra thing - talk about a waste of money!!!! I'm not big on buying regular bras either though, maybe it's because I no longer have such perky boobs and it makes me sad to be reminded of what I have lost. ;)
ReplyDeleteI do have a serious problem with buying clothes for my baby girl though. Seriously - I need to join a group or something...
I hate the fact that the girls at the bra store are insanely skinny and have obviously never had kids and their boobs are still unused. How can they be expected to understand what I need? Also I really am a 38 B no matter how many times they measure me and tell me a 36 C will work, they are wrong, a C is too big, things just knock around in the cups.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I pretty much hate spending money on bras....but I refuse to spend more than $15 on one when it is time to get a new one. There is one particular brand and style that I always buy and never deviate from (except maybe in the color)....speaking of which, it's totally time to buy a new bra. I'm down to two and one of them is just barely being held together. I suppose it's time to bite the bullett and go shopping,...
ReplyDeleteI totally agree that bras should be a fraction of the cost of a top because they cover a fraction of the surface area.
ReplyDeleteI'm willing to pay good money for a little (okay, a lot) of padding and underwire. But I do think for the price we pay, small chested women should have bras that serve a double function. Make pockets in them or something... 'cause the bra itself isn't having to do a whole lot of work.
ReplyDeleteI share your flat-chested woes!! Totally unfair that the price is so high. I'd rather pay for the boobs, thankyouverymuch!
ReplyDeleteForever I was a 34A/B and enjoyed sexy bras that cost $10 or less. Now I am a 38D (thanks to lactating for 4 long months) and bras are a necessity at all times... especially when your 10 year old son still wants to hug you and would get lost if you didn't have a bra on. If only I could have stopped at a healthy C...half way inbetween would have been great for me!
ReplyDeleteYeah, bras . . . definitely something I hate spending money on. Sadly, my bras cost about $50.00 each. That's what you get when your girls are about 40 sizes to big. :)
