I know at least two of you who will hit the comment button on this one before you've even finished reading, so I'll keep it short.
I am not a registered voter.
I fully realize how poor an example this is to my kids, how I have a responsibility as an American citizen, how I have no right to complain about any elected officials or their decisions, etc...
And I'll fix this issue pronto. I just thought I'd fess up first.
For those of you who don't know, you can lecture me by hitting the comments link below this post, typing in your disgust in the handy little box, choosing an identity, (anonymous if you wish), and then submitting the rebuke. Thank you for taking the time to put me in my place, and have a lovely day!
surprised. But who are we to judge right? Maybe you have a good reason for all we know. Maybe not. I must confess I did not register to vote until I was married to David. So there I am a sinner too. : )
ReplyDeleteTell us what you are going to do now! Storm capital? I have twice this month, for mental health issues. I got to sit in on an amazing senate meeting a couple weeks ago, that was so full of NAMI members and lack of acceptance for the stupid bill, that would make it harder for people to get the right medication, that he withdrew it!! They didn't even vote on it!! One of the senate members said she felt like Paula Abdul and comforted him though. Very cool experience!! But my point is... I am still not registered in Utah! And I am still ignorant. You do whatcha can and keep trying! Briana and I are within walking distance of capital. I think if I ever wanted to hang myself I would off that building, it would be very striking. Wow, this is an insane comment. But every good blog needs one!!

P.S. Your new header picture made me really, really hungry for Mexican food. Thanks a lot.
ReplyDeleteI am registered to vote, but I will admit that I usually only vote on the presidential election years. I don't know why. Washington has that handy vote by mail ballot, so I don't even have the excuse of not making it to the polls.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think it's because I am less informed on the local issues than I am issues on a national level. Sad, I know. So, I will work on that along with you. :)
Shows you can grow up by the time you turn 30 and have 4 young minds to influence in your way or the highway! GO VOTE!
ReplyDeleteSo was it just an oversight? You just never had the time to get down there and register? Or is this a deliberate political statement? :)
ReplyDeleteI think the proper term would be procrastination.
ReplyDeleteYep - it's my forte.
I'm with you, Beth. I'm not registered, I don't vote, and I'm so uneducated about the issues going on locally and nationally. I think I feel helpless and overwhelmed, so I gave up before I started. Also, I personally think the Second Coming will be soon and Jesus will take care of it all for us. There's my excuses.
ReplyDeleteYou know, for how heated I get when politics come up, it's strange that I'm not registered either. I think of this new health care bill and how Obamaboy wants to make it so that I get fined if I don't have health insurance(that pisses me off so bad, by the way. I can see liability on a car being required by law, but having health insurance? Screw that! It's so unconstitutional! What happened to seeking happiness however I see fit?) and I realize that maybe if I had cast my vote I would have more right to complain, like you said. Maybe I would then be in a position to speak my point of view and do the whole, write a letter to my senator, kind of thing. I really need to register...
