Dear Twenties,

We have spent ten beautiful years together, and I didn't want to let our time pass away without telling you how much you've meant to me.

I remember the day we first met. I was already married, tan, happy, and just home from an amazing honeymoon. You felt familiar and welcome, like part of me had always known you. And yet, I don't think I fully appreciated you. You are meant to be enjoyed with crazy, youthful exploits and carefree days. Most of our days together were filled with lessons and responsibility, but I don't regret that. I loved every minute we shared and the lessons you endured with me.

You were with me through so many things that most people probably never experience while in your presence. I began to learn how to sacrifice and be selfless. Those lessons will continue without you. In your presence I learned to appreciate the people in my life and all the blessings that come with them. I grew up with you and became who I am today.

Together, we shared joys and sorrows, accomplishments and defeats. I look around me now and feel remarkably blessed that I have had the privilege of journeying with you. It was good.

You took me not only to windy beaches, an iconic bridge, cities devoured by lights, enchanting and beautiful gardens, and to forests thick with moss and fungi, but to places so deep within myself that I never knew they existed.

From here on out, my journey continues without you, but before our time together ends, let's enjoy one more day together.

With love and fond memories,
Bethany

  1. You really did have a different 20's experience than most - and I think that makes you very special. And I mean special in a good way. ;-)
Hope you enjoy your last day of youth! :)
