Softly Passing Judgement Because I Can't Help Myself
While I wrestle with myself over whether or not to write a post about something I am passionate about, but fear I cannot voice without being controversial and offensive, I leave you with this slightly less controversial thought:
Some kids don't even know how to just play anymore. Some kids have no imagination.

I wonder why that is?...
Oh go ahead and be controversial. Why not?
ReplyDeleteAs far the lack of imagination goes. I hear ya, sista! My kids were bored the 1st day of summer break... so used to being told what to do, they couldn't think of anything themselves. Sheesh!
I am too distracted by potential controversy to focus on your adorable picture.
ReplyDeleteLess structure, more imagination!Love the picture!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so you know how I feel about the whole playing thing! I LOVE your pic, but want controversy!!
ReplyDeleteOn another note...I get email updates when you post something new, but just realized I wasn't "following" you...I am now!
It's not just you! I read an article a few years ago that basically blamed toys for a lot of "behavior issues." Kids don't develop their executive functions because they don't need to exercise their brains or use their imaginations when they play. They don't need to remember which stick was the sword and which stick was the shovel. Their lives are so planned out for them that they're never given the opportunity to make decisions. Then we all wonder why they make such bad ones when they grow up and "ought to know better." Times like this I'm glad I can't afford lots of "neat stuff" for my kids.
